You are viewing a very small section of an exceptionally detailed map of 1851 Bavaria, Wurtemberg, and Baden by the cartographer Meyer, who produced many exquisite maps noted for their amazing detail and accuracy. The nearly-incredible feature of this map is that its actual size on paper is only about 9 x 10 inches, yet the degree of detail and fineness of the engraving makes it nearly unreadable without magnification. To show it here, I scanned at a high resolution but reduced some of the colors, in order to keep the file size down.

Even still, this image is more than 4 Megabytes. Depending on your connection speed, it could take several minutes or hours to download.
